Didn't know whether to post here or in commercial break, but the latter seems more focussed on drivers rather than operators, so...

I'm just researching at the moment, so not seeking specific introductions.

If I wanted a weekly collection from Germany to be brought to the UK, palletised but not a full truck's worth, where would I start in terms of finding a suitable haulier? I guess the load could range from 1-8 pallets at a time.

Does anyone have any experience of moving similar quantities across Europe? Could offer ball-park haulage figures for that range of load volumes?

... if it helps at all, sample routes could be Cologne to Manchester and Berlin to Manchester.

Hi

We move between 3-4 pallets weekly from Germany to UK.

We use NNR based in Heathrow and are paying £150 per pallet including VAT who sub contract to Europa but there part of the same group

Certainly wouldn't be asking any UK haulier, loads of groupage coming over from Germany every week, we use these guys every week.

Most UK companys will piggy back on many routes to a central location, We have no restrictions and can add how many we want but our average last year was 3 per week.

When we asked for prices we wanted it for 1 pallet we didn't try and say we will grow year on year. We wanted an honesty company price wise and this is what we have. They came to us this year to speak about a rate reduction as we have done 49 tonne this year spread over an average of 3 pallets a week.

This. Use someone like Willi Betz as a negotiating lever with an SME haulier and away you go.
