My friends son is going away for a few days and is thinking of driving down and parking in Heathrow airport. He is a student bless him and wants to know how much the Parking Express carpark charges per day as the online quote system does not do less then 6 days (he is away for 4 or 5 days).

IIRC is it about £14 per day???

Tell him to get the train, he's a student so should be used to it. Never met a student who wants to take the most expensive option!

Nearest train station is 18 miles away!!!! He lives in the middle of nowhere and nobody can drop him off hence the pricey option!

Why don't you come out and ask....

'Can any Phers who live near Heathrow let my friends son park their car for free, for a few days...?'

Just remember to leave the handbrake off, or youll be there as I was, knackered with jet lag and clobbering the brakes with a hammer.

If he insists on driving to Heathrow and parking, then it works out cheaper to stay in the hotel there for a night and leave his car in the hotel car park.

(My parents have done that on several occasions)

We use Pink Elephant parking. £15 a day or something.

Genuinely - if he's doing this on a budget the thing to do is take the bus to the train station. Train into London and tube out to Heathrow.

More often than park we get a car to take us. About £35 each way from Basingstoke. For a two week holiday its cheaper and you don't have to drive with eight hours of jet-lag on....

I know a few guys who park up in West Drayton/Yiewsley & cab it in from there (£10 or so). Wouldn't do it if I had a half decent car though.

If he's not too bothered about leaving his car on the street there is plenty of free parking around Heathrow within walking distance of free buses into the terminals.

or get the A10 bus from thereabouts, bus leaves from Uxbridge costs about gbp1.30 iirc.

Another surface train option is via Feltham station - there is a regular easy bus journey from there.

Best option I have used is Purple Parking - they park your car for you , and provide a free airport transfer service and pick up, IIRC about £6 or £7 a day if booked in advance - very good value , based near Southall ,at a secure site.
