Cancel car lease before it starts?
Discussion
I originally was after a car in mid august, and was hoping to get one by mid september - Obviously the leasing salesperson at the end of the phone was all too accomodating and managed to find me a cancelled order, and said middle of september would be possible.
Three weeks later, that car has gone, and in it's place a brand new LCI model, at not too far from the old price - ok, fair enough I'll go for that (bear in mind I wanted a car in a hurry). So here we are in the last few weeks of october, due to a two week delay at my end (my fault, my photocard expired), the paper work is signed a fortnight back and I've gently reminded the lease company I need the car asap.
They appear to be in no hurry to arrange that part - but are more than worried to chase paperwork from me.
So - do I have any comeback with regards to expecting the car I want to be arranged for delivery in a timely manner, or does the fact my cooling off period has expired mean that I basically have to sit around and wait till they are good and ready to sort that out. Who knows if my previously allocated card is gone ... and i might be told it's another 8 weeks before I get it.
Any ideas how I can encourage I'm dealt with quickly?

I'm assuming this is a personal contract?
Have you signed a 'Hire Agreement regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974'? If not, then you probably haven't entered in to any agreement.
If you have, then once you have signed it you will usually have 'a short time to cancel it'. Details of how to cancel it should have been sent to you after you had signed the contract. Check that for the terms around cancelling, otherwise ask them.
Good luck!

Wessex Fleet Solutions.
Salesman was a nice enough guy, but their customer services were in no hurry to deal with me - Anything up to 3-4 days to reply to emails, and the moment the latest 'issue' came up, I lost all confidence.
So, just checked my emails and it was only 8 days ago when I signed and sent off the finance forms. So i'm inside the cooling off period.
Not confident I'll get my car any time soon, so I'll get out now. For all I know it could have been on my drive next friday, or a friday in January. No thanks.
