...is a good starting point and having a good cruise through this very forum will stand you in good stead.

Some key areas to check are under-bonnet corrosion, brake judder, oil leaks, leaking dampers, and air-conditioning issues.

Thanks for that but I had a look and it just seams to give me info about the models. I know that part it's more about users experience. I was on R8talk.com last night and I saw some scary photos of cracked chasis just above springs. Anyone else had this in the UK?

From personal experience I saw a lot of R8's with corrosion on the leading edge of the bonnet and bottom of the doors, oil coolers are prone to leaking, mag ride shocks seem to tire quickly, make sure oil changes have been carried out at correct intervals, spark plugs should be changed at 6 years or 57,000 I believe.
As I say this is only my experience, I was looking at 09/10 R8 V8

Happy hunting

Cheers for that guys. I heard someone else mention corrosion but isn't this covered by the 10 year paint warranty?

The corrosion is covered by the 12 year warranty if the car has been serviced by Audi and had the appropriate body checks.
The problem arises if your potential purchase has had cosmetic/damaged paint repairs, even if these works are carried out by an Audi authorised body shop.
