Hi all,

Havn't posted for yonks but have been lurking around...

Was lucky enough to get hold of a 20D last week from Nyk for a great price so will be posting a bit more on here...

Couple of points.....are micro drive cards stable enough to be used in the cameras ? It came with a 4gb microdrive card which is great for the capacity but I'm a little bit worried about how fragile they are compared to a smaller capacity CF card.

Secondly, the bundle came with a copy of Photoshop Elements but no instruction guide. Doesn't look the easiest of software to use on first impressions. Should I stick with it or is there a better alternative. Is there any decent literature to read on Photoshop Elements ( think its version 2.0 ?? )

Thanks in advance,

Ross

Microdrives can be fragile because they are a mini hard drive and as such don't take too kindly to being dropped or squashed but if you treat them as you would treat your camera and always hold them on the edges they can be as reliable as CF cards. I have 2 microdrives which I've had for a few years and never had a problem with them.

Cheers
Ian

There are dozens of user guides for Photoshop on the net. Just go to google and search for a guide for your version of Photoshop.

It does appear daunting but once you've got the hang of it its very simple to use

Good luck

I've never had an issue with microdrive, sure they can be damaged with rough use, but how often do you chuck your 20d around?

Elements is quite easy to use, and it has all the help files you need within it, anything you can't get your head around can be covered quickly on the net.

If you think elements is difficult to learn from scratch, you'll be bowlled over by Photoshop CS

I recommend the cd's stuck to the front of digital photo magazine, they deal step by step with most aspects of photoshop.

I wonder if they take more power than CF? Probably wouldn't a great deal though...anyone know?

When we looked at them for embedded applications they used a factor of 5 to 10 times the power of the flash version. They may be better now....or not.
