Ninja,

You want to get yourself a 10 year old TVR. No leaks from the roof, and not a potentiometer in site.

Nice motor!

Cheers Richard,

Actually its funny coz a friend and I were talking about what car would be a good replacement and we mentioned TVR amongst others (was considering getting rid of the 355 if it acts like an ass again). But we concluded that all the "worthy" cars were likely to be some kind of hassle. I know from postings here that the TVRs have their fair share of "tantrums" so I guess we're all in the same boat.

The sound on the way home reassured me again.

Although we discussed the possibility of swopping to a Lambo Diablo (not enough class, build quality, or useability for me) I guess its 355 Spider for now, until the 360 Spider is within price range.

I still haven't been for a ride in ANY TVR, so look forward to a meet with some TVR owners!

You're not a million miles away, are you going to the Oxford meet?

Ninja,

What's your insurance like, if you don't mind me asking? I get shafted left, right and left again before centre in this area. Just a tad younger than you but job title and address puts me in the "empty your wallet " insurance catagory. Premiums to date could have bought a used Cerb. What have I got in return? Nowt. No crashes, no claims just a bloody expensive certificate which is worthless after 12 months.

Ninja, if you're talking about the Pie and Trout meet on Sunday then I'm going.
You're more than welcome to come for a spin in my Tamora? It's no Ferrari but it must come close?
Cheers.... Andrew
PS. Nice car!

Hi guys,

Re insurance, currently paying £3,600 but it should drop dramatically when I finally hit 25 next year. At least that's what they tell you. Like they told it would be 24 when I was 23. How old are you and how much are you paying? To be able to buy a Cerbera? Wow. I had insurance companies as I have been paying high premiums all my life. First car was a BMW 325i @17 and then it just got worse and worse. Funnily enough, the 355 has been the best value for money insurance wise!

Andrew, yes it is the meeting I am on about. Thanks for the offer, I would love a drive in the Tamora. Not sure if I can definitely make it (work commitments) but its getting more and more tempting.

Regards

Afternoon Tifosi.

Just popped over from the Porker board.

Mr Eli, it was reported recently that Porsche are bringing out a 996 Turbo Cab in the future. It may be worth looking at in the future.

Ninja, 3,600 GBP (sorry U.S keyboard)!

Makes me feel sick. I paid 3200GBP on my first car(Audi cab) & in the U.S 3000GBP on my Jeep(ok, 550bhp might've had somthing to do with it). Because of living/working between countries I had at least two policies every year. Really feel ill thinking about it but 5 years NCB now makes things less painful. Managed to get the Tuscan quotes down to 2000gbp which is about rock bottom for me. Better to buy a real car, pay s**t loads to insure and enjoy it as long as possible I say.

Bloody hell I might retire and start selling some rugs to get a quote nearer yours.

P.S Looking forward to having my 3 week break at the end of the year. Yellow 355 spider awaits my return. Thinking about a quick blast to Italy to pick up an F1 wheel and try and take a peek at a friends Enzo.

23 by the way! I understand the jealousy towards a young guy in a sweet car. Not had any myself though as I'm normally moving er, swiftly, so nobody sees me. When I'm in South of France people are convinced I am a football player and demand pictures/autographs. Pain in the backside at dinner though as I can't remember the French for "I don't play football, sod off"!

Just on my way out of the office but thought I would have one last peek at the jokes thread (some seriously funny shit there!).

I take it you are in the US at present? Don't you miss your 355 Spider? I went away for a little over two weeks and got serious withdrawal symptoms.

Let me get this straight, Tuscan and 355 Spider? Pray, tell me what you do so I can join too! Seriously, let us know "job title" as it sounds very interesting.

Regards (I'm off home but first a last check of the jokes thread ).

Pro athlete. Now you can see why the premiums are so bloody high. All the fault of those coke-snorting, page3 shaggin', achohol-abusing, over-paid, fast-car-crashin' football boys.

If you play a sport you will obviously wreck your car every other day and/or have groupies scratch and dent it when you park/get in. Not to mention all the papparazi chasing you everywhere. These are some of the things a specialist told me were the reasons celebs/sports/fashion people get high premiums. It's definately not all good.

P.S Not got the Tuscan yet. Can't wait to get back home to pick it up and ship it out to NYC! Should turn a head or two.

Actually now really considering swapping mine for a yellow one.

Any opinions please. All girls say red, all the guys say yellow. Don't know if its just the picture but the yellow one looks real good. Its only done 10K, is an S reg, and is priced very well.

Mine.

Yellow would hide stonechips and scratches better too.

Please, Mr.el, don't take this the wrong way - but you jammy b**t**d!

I don't care how good any car is, what else can emote so lustily as THAT image (car wise, naturally!)

I assume you live in Montana? If not, why not? And IMHO, you should keep it as it is. Yellow is really nice but your vehicle was built for red!

I'm sorry but all restraint and pretence of maturity dissolves on exposure to the 355. It's just perfect; pure, unadulterated, automotive art.

Like the 456GT, the 360 and in a more restrained manner, the 550. I just can't help myself. Awesome.

My vote's for yellow!

I used to have a Giallofly Yellow Chimaera and loved it.
When I came to sell it blokes loved it but their girlfiends/wives didn't! Strange?

Cheers.... Andrew

Ninja - Talacrest just sold a mint Giallo spyder with a beautiful bordeaux interior..... - think it was sub £70K.

Bu they've got another one in there - think it might be F1 though - 9000 miles and £75K......

Hi Derestrictor and Andrew,

Personally I love the giallo in the pictures, but not so much in the flesh. Don't know why?

Never come across a girl who likes giallo. My girlfriend reckons the giallo would make me look like a pimp. I'm thinking that could be more of a good point than bad

I think I'm going to be strong and resist the yellow, for today at least.

Manu,

Thats dear for a 95 reg 355 spider, plus their not official dealers. The one I am looking at is official dealer, 98 S reg, 11K miles and only £69K. Which I thought was a good price.

Isn't this scenario your fault Manu? I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it to you I would have forgotten about it in a couple of days. BTW, the giallo 360 spider at £117K is gone. I was considering swapping for that, but decided I needed some money in the bank coz I'm still searching for the house, and I haven't sold the Supra yet. Could have used that for six mothns and still made some money on that I reckon though. Didn't want to be broke though (or have a big loan on my hands)!

That is too pricey... and that's the bottom line - got to find out what trade in they're offering though.

I'd keep the red one. It's a heritage thing.

I can't see the point of changing cars just for colour, just lining the dealers pockets.

Of course having said all that, if I couldn't have a red one it would have to be either yellow black or silver.

Good luck with your decision.

Manu I don't think its that pricey. Seems very reasonable to me among the official dealers. Funnily enough the same dealer has a 98 R reg exactly like mine with 11K on it for £74K. Go figure.

I think I'll give it a miss; it'll probably be a big loss if they bought outright, and if I SOR, the yellow one will be sold.
