Thought i'd post a bit about my 172, which I got in January 2013 with 75,000 on the clock, at the age of 19 and very expensive insurance. I've just ticked past 100k miles and it's been a fantastic car other than a driveshaft failing on me.
In my ownership, other than consumables i've had the Turinis refurbed, the expensive cambelt, dephaser etc done at the cost of £700
, gave it a decent machine polish, replaced the melted thumb grips and fitted a Connects2.

On the plus side mine's never broken down or not got me where i wanted to go, but random doors decide to not unlock then not lock.

Thanks, yes the colour is lovely, especially with the sun on it.
I'm going to spend a whole day on the paint work on Sunday, so i'll try and capture the colour a bit better.
Nothing exciting happened recently, gave it a once over with a few new detailing bits as I hadn't cleaned it since July I think! Also bought an a freshly painted engine cover from Sprayshack, it's really nice! Shame a screw was rounded and I don't own torx bits, so that can wait to be fitted.

Managed to get round to changing the engine cover. What a pain the bolt was, had to grind it out in the end. Unsure on the colour, but it looks a lot fresher than before. I want to focus on tidying the bay so i'm going to get the upper inlet and fuel rail guard sprayed a bright silver.
Got a couple of other small bits done today.
Fitted the battery cover from Dan@MAD, and the bonnet seal from @davo172, which didnt need doing but I thought why not. Also changed the sidelights to LEDs.
I've bought some interior to replace some some bits which are worn in mine, which i'll fit in the week.

Looks lovely. Taipipe's a bit on the large side for my tastes, but I love the Turinis with the silver/red combo. My brother used to have one this colour, really liked it. Driving position is a bit funny, but you get used to it, and I'm pretty sure French cars get their unreliable rep from Renault, but the engine's a peach. Lots of grunt, sounds great, pulls hard. And to top it all off, it could manage 40mpg if you drove it lightly. Comfy seats too.

Yeah, great littlw cars for what they are worth. I often get low 40s mpg from Portsmouth to Crawley. I've never understood the driving position thing, seems perfect to me! Seats aren't bad, I want recaros but can't justify the odd £700
My 172 cup was way more fun to own than my Alpina... The jobs were cheap and simple in comparison and it was like a terrier, always really up for a drive. There's a guy who spent a title tune on his cup turning into an amazing track beast but learned that they really are better left as they come and enjoyed. I tinkered with mine a fair bit but I get his point. Yours looks fantastic in the flame red with turinis.
