For the first time in about three months I actually did some work today. It was a new experience - quite enjoyable really. Migh even try it again sometime (well maybe not) - but it did make the day go quicker! Hell, I live the life of riley!!
Hey! Same here! I've got a headache now....

so tell all then! what was the work? and why don't you work normally then?
trying to find out how I can get into the no work lark but still be able to pay all the bills
I once saw a cartoon in a magazine which said "A good manager spends the first two years doing himself out of a job and the next ten years pretending he's got one". I concur with this statement.
As such, I run a business with good appointed managers, that afford me the luxury of doing what I like when I like (pretty much). I don't know why more people don't do it. The real challenge of entrepreneurialship, in my view, is giving someone else the helm and enjoying the ride! Most entrepreneurs tend to be control freaks - I decided this was illogical so I relinqush much of the direct control - though I still keep a close eye on KPI's (kep performance indicators) - from a distance.

That is the coolest thing I've heard in ages - do you need any other lazy people on the team?
I am ace at working when necesssary and lounging at all other times!!
Thanks for the offer, but none of my staff are lazy. I'm the only lazy person in the company, because I refuse to employ lazy people! I spend a great deal of my time working out how I can make life 'fun' for the staff. (A weekend in New York, West End show, etc). I have a budget for "recruitment" (about £50k) but I mainly spend this money on "staff retention". So I do a bit of work - but only what I enjoy and what puts a smile on people's faces!

Gis a job mister! It'd be a nice change to have a boss who can actually throw a bit of work my way! Rather than me sat here wondering if the company will go under in March or July?...

I'm sorry to hear that Phillip. Is it a lack of orders your suffering from?
It's a lack of a good software developer, and decent leadership. We're tied to this bloke in the states who designs what he wants not whats needed. Our boss is too soft to sort it out. And I get told to "leave it" when I try and point out the basic issue of trying to sell something very clever (and it is really clever!) but that nobody wants and not having a marketing budget!...
Anyway at the moment I get cash for not doing very much! Plenty of PH time!

That's ridiculous. Paradoxically, a poor product well marketed will normall outsell a good product poorly marketed!
