For the last few months I have been seeing a police convoy mit B&2s, presumably something to do with prisoners presumably, as I know there is a prison not far from Evesham. Always about 8am...

In the morning they head from evesham to the m5, and then back again at around 6 pm most weekdays.. I have only rarely seen this before on the same route which I have been doing for 10 years, so started up regular-like recently.

.. at least 4-5 cars + Disco escorts and sometimes 3 or 4 bikes in addition!

Who's the Mr BIG-crim that could possibly deserve such lavish arrangements?

So frequent - must cost an ABSOLUTE FORTUNE! (why not video link?)

Not nearby - they'd have to go down the M5 to Bristol. Perhaps the rush is because it's not nearby.

Should have included... yep escorting a van (police), not the normal Prison van I see occasionally!

Love to know why so regular, what sort of crim inside, and why only really started a month ago (or thereabouts). Is this a policy change? Has the video link at Bristol CC become unreliable recently? Might have, cos the Mag court at Stroud had intermittent problems when I have attended (not as a defendant, I might add! rolleyes)

It does sound like a big court case.

I've seen a similar convoy recently on the M4 north of Bristol and wondered the same. Can't recall when exactly, maybe a couple of weeks ago now.

They've been starting from above J14 of the M5, as I see them occasionally on my way in that way. They often add some more bikes/swap some bikes out on the slip.

I see and/or hear them most mornings from my office in central Bristol. They take varying routes into the city. There is a court case in the Crown court which is listed with no details, just a row of Xs which may be related.

We had the same thing up here in Scotland recently for a big case, it'll 99% be a prisoner (or remandee if you want to be pedantic) transport convoy

No Prison van? Then I doubt it would be a prisoner from Long Lartin (Thats the prison near Evesham OP was talking about).

I was once forced on to the kerb when an oncoming Prison van with two Police cars upfront was clearing the road ahead (I was the only vehicle) in the village of Bretforton, which is around 2-3 miles form the prison. I've never known of a prisoner being escorted to Court any other way.

Saying that, I'll be having a pint with a few Prison Officers from there tonight, so I could always ask the question, though I guess I might not get a clear answer.

I've seen a van both times. Interestingly just heard multiple sirens while typing this, although I'm at Aztec so could be anything really.

I saw them heading south on the M5 towards Bristol this morning with a van in the middle of the scrum and then tonight joining the M5 at Bristol heading north again. I thought it might be the Becky Watts trial.

I don't think they're an escape risk to warrant it, sounds more like the armed robber guy who has a history of escapes
