Picked up someone from Poole ferry last night.
Heading back to Reading and working our way towards the A31 (lousy signage by the way) around 2000hrs we were on what I think was Ringwood Road.
I was surprised to see a speed camera van operating just after one of the islands on a short stretch of dual carriageway.
Fortunately I was within the speed limit but I wondered how many they'd bag.
Is this a common occurrence or is it that I don't get out much at night?
Cheers, Pewe

The tech has been approved for a little while now.

the technology has been around for years but not often implemented as the Plod cant afford to staff them at "out of hours" rates. Cant imagine anyone wants to sit in a metal box having offensive sign language thrown at them without, at least, time and a half!!

The one I have seen in that area has a warning triangle and flashing yellow beacon on the road as you approach, it appears that it's checking for un-taxed cars.

Just to confirm, yes the speed camera vans do indeed work at night and have done for about a year in Hampshire.
