I need some information about the Monaro VXR speakers. I've seent he guides and I know that the front door speakers are 6.5" components and that rear are 6.5" full range speakers.
I know the car has 2 small 6" Subwoofers on the rear shelf, that's all fine.

What I need to know is the depth of those 6" subwoofers as I've found a couple that I want to get but I'm not sure how much depth I have to play with because they would no doubt foul on the fuel tank. Does anyone know?

Mud and Ferret have both made sub mounts that sit in the parcel shelf to support different subs, hopefully one of them will be along soon thumbup

It's a bit trickier than just depth because they hang through a small hole in the shelf, like so...

These are what I fitted (copying ferret). Can't comment on the fuel tank, mine clears by about 18" or so!

All your speaker sizes are a bit out.

The front components are actually 6" and not 6.5". They have a plastic hole for fitting the basket. You can make a 6.5 fit assuming the basket will fit in the hole. Tweeter in the dash are 1.5" and under the vents on top of the dash. JL Audio do a 6" component set but it's more expensive then a 6.5" by about £50. Finding 6" speakers is tricky. I have ended up fitting a set of audison prima 5.25" components at 100wrms which are stunning.

The rear speakers in the sides are also 6" but as they are open to the wing you have no issue getting a 6.5" or even a subwoofer in here as long as you don't go too deep, but you have a fair amount of room. Exspect serious rattles if you put a sub here. I fitted some JL coaxils here of a 6" 65w rms persuasion.

Rear deck speakers are actually 6.5". They are considerable deeper than the other speakers, but are a pig to get at as you have to take apart most of the inside of the car. In my car I fitted 8" Hertz 250w subs. They are mounted on MDF rings from underneath and stick down a considerable amount, as they are not only deep but have 25mm of MDF too. However if they ever fail you can more easily change. My car is a big boot VXR. If you can pop the trim off to see the back of the speakers between their base and the fuel tank and measure this gap I am sure someone has the standard speakers depth and that should be able to give you what you have to work with.

If you are local to me more than happy to show you the set up. I am based in Woking
