Dent Removal

Some idiot has vandalised my brothers Cayman, the worst bit being this dent. Anyone any experience of trying to remove anything similar? As far as I can tell there is no access to behind the panel even with removing the rear light.

Sorry to hear this, stories like yours make my pi$$ boil. Sadly there's some jealous morons on this planet.

I am no dent expert and the pic is a little hard to make out with the rain beading on the car. What I will say is I have had various dents removed from cars over the years and I'm always amazed what they can do. Moreover they are very honest when they don't think they can do it, but some are better than others.

If you reply with where your brother is based in sure some members will give you a recommendation for an assessment.

Your local OPC ( http://www.porschenewcastle.co.uk/about-us) will probably have details of a local " Dent Magician " or " Plastic Surgeon " that they use for sales cars paint less dent removal etc.

Give them a bell and they will probably point you in the right direction.

Looking at the dent I'm not sure it can be removed by paint less dent removal process but I could be wrong.

I managed to put a similar, although less deep dent in the same place on the passenger side of my Cayman (just by leaning on it a bit heavily) and the dent guy gained access via the side vent and completely removed all trace of it. So I'd expect the same result for you. These guys work miracles!

I am in the car trade and have a guy that does all of my dents and the one in your pic doesn't look impossible,If there is no access they can usually drill a small hole in order to place there rods in and push out the dent..

I had a similar sized dent removed. No access. But they glued slide hammer to various bits. Result was incredible. Glue is then melted and cleaned off. Only issue if non factory paint as often not a tough and can lift.
If you are in or near Glos I can suggest someone.

Thanks all, I'll pass on the suggestions. Based up in Newcastle, he has now contacted a few local guys who have suggested a few different methods so hoping it can be fixed.

Best way for that one is remove the light and drill a small hole. If the paint does not crack the dent will come out with no major issue I suspect.

I had exactly this issue on my last cayman - some kind person dropped a plank of wood on it in B&Q.

Didn't damage the paint just was a dent. Took it to Brooklands OPC (aka west by fleet) - £90 and all fixed looked perfect. highly recommend. Although if your up north might be too far to come

Just to update this, he contacted a load of local companies including our local OPC and had a range of replies, including some who said it couldn't be fixed and required a new quarter.

Anyhow he went with this company http://www.car-dent.co.uk and they heated it up and used a combination of pulling out and also drilled a hole and pushed it out from behind - no paint needed. All sorted and you couldn't tell it had been repaired, very impressed!

Looks like a good result.

I had a very similar problem when a fire extinguisher fell off a wall and hit my wing. Other than a small mark on the paint from the metal on metal impact you could not see any trace of the dent afterwards.

I love guys like this.

I think of all the years I spent getting body shops to fill and paint dents which can now be removed for the price of a modest lunch in about the same time it takes to eat one.
