It's not really a deduction, is it? Rather that he hasn't been paid as much as he thinks he was going to get. How soon before payday is the payslip available?

once the money has been paid into your account then there is an issue with them taking money out as they can not do this without your permission....

need the contract to say overtime is paid at this rate and this is the definition of overtime, without that you're fked
