backup lights

can someone suggest a good set of backup/secondry set of lights for my commute? i currently have a brand new cree on the front, and just a cheapy leyzne on the back, after something i can put on 'blinky' that wont break the bank. ideally no more than £50 for a pair. i did see this combo on halfords http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-lights-locks/...
is this my best bet, or can i save a few quid?

My backup set for absolute emergencies is the "Bontrager Glo and Ember Light Set".

Available in black or white body/fixing strap. No use for seeing by really, but a useful contingency for being seen if you've emptied all the electrickery from your main lights.

No use to you right now, but I've also got a set of the Aldi (or was it Lidl?) copies of the Moon Comet front and rear lights. £9 per end, USB rechargeable, and last at least 3 hours...

Well regarded, I think, and bright, with a claimed 100 lumens up front, and 30 lumens out back at full power. I found the front one (copies, mind) to be a bit "meh", but the rear one is properly bright, so bright you need to aim it down a bit, and it lights up the ground around the bike really well, so a glance backward gives you confidence when you can clearly see whether it is still on or not.

Check out Planet X, you could get a backup set of lights for under a tenner. Not the brightest but ideal for commuting etc

I love my Moon Comets. Tiny, light and very bright despite lasting ages on a charge. You'll not want to ride trail at midnight with just the front light, but as a 'be seen' set they are superb.

Wouldn't spend £50 as less will get you a decent set. Good suggestions above

Moon Lights (various models) they seem good, I have the Aldi version, reallly simple design and great for swapping between bikes, got loads of people asking about it, battery isnt great though as YJ says above

I cannot destroy the above, they have lasted years and very good on batteries, the bracket for the rear light broke, but front is Ok . Very good to "be seen" when flashing. They solider on forever, dont expect them to light up a unlit lane though, but to grab the attention of drivers they have done well.

Or get on Planetx as they have some good offers

thanks guys. i'll save the cash and get something a bit cheaper.
i have a rucksack cover, wear reflective slap wraps on my ankles, have those 3m spokey dokeys on my spokes, so just need a spare set to be seen with. will probably plump for the planetx smart lights.

I got these as back up lights, the rear is so bright that I have to put it on the lower setting to stop complaints on club rides.

The front is perfectly fine for dark lanes but I usually pair it with a brighter front.

Now into the 2nd year without any issues, just be sure to clip the rear into the mount properly before setting off.
