Anyone identify this machine gun?
Discussion
There was a thread yonks ago where people sussed some ancient machine gun from a single pic of Brazilian gangs or something. I've tried a search to add my post to that thread but can't find it, it was yonks ago.
The gun I would like to identify is pictured in a Tintin cartoon. Knowing Herge was very particular about getting techinical details right I'm convinced this was a real gun somewhere. I also had a toy version of it when I was a nipper, it was my favourite water pistol! It sort of resembled a giant Luger but with a 2nd hand grip below a ribbed barrel. Behold;

Can anyone help? this has bothered me since I was a kid, seriously. Yes, I have no life.

Looks like something the illustrator made up. He knew what a Colt 45 looked like and tacked on long barrel and wooden fore end.The gun I would like to identify is pictured in a Tintin cartoon. Don't know why I never thought of looking before, but it looks like some other saddos like me have been wondering the same thing. Seems Herge based his gun on a toy, not the other ways around;

A 1960s cap gun produced by Edison Giocattoli in the 1960s, called the Tigermatic (except the one I had was a waterpistol). The memory of the day it broke in half due to bathtime fatigue still wakes me in the midle of the night at least twice a year.

Looks like a sten with the mag missing. Of mp40 again without mag (this is most likely and what the Internet says) Google "tin tin machine gun"
Have you ever seen images of either of the guns that you mention? I think you may need your eyes testing.Edited by mikees on Sunday 25th October 18:39

Whilst we're identifying kids toys can anyone tell me more about this squeaky monkey/gorilla? All I know is that he was made by a company called 'Rosebud' in the UK.
OMG I think I had one of those too. Is it made out of some god awful sponge that smells bad, dries out and cracks? Think my dog got hold of it and pulled it to shredsIssi said:

No, nothing like a Cougar, I used to sell these brand new in the 1970's. They looked OK, but were crap.http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cougar+air+pistol...
They were manufactured by Millard (Milbro) brothers in Carfin, Scotland, now the company only make air gun pellets.
