Fuel Additives?

Anyone ever used fuel additives and had any noticable success? Eg, was looking at some STP Injector Cleaning Additive the other day - the back of the bottle certainly talks a good cleaning, but do they really work? Used some general-engine-cleaning stuff in my Honda a while ago, thought it smoothed things out a bit, but I could well have been imagining it...

used em in the past Andy, but I honestly reckon they're mostly unnecessary, however may be worth a try if you are experiencing engine hesitation under load etc.... I have read that they work well to keep smoke emmissions down on high mileage diesels...

I dont reckon they do any harm

It's a slight hesitation in my Chim that got me thinking about it - barely perceptible, but there nevertheless. Thought it might be dirty injectors and might be worth using some cleaner (though with my mechanical knowledge, for all I know could be strawberry jam in the knurgly-whirly-round-and-round bits.....).

The only fuel additives worth using are octane boosters!

When my S3 was running a bit lumpy I booked it into Austec and before setting off I tried the Injector cleaner stuff. 20 miles or so later she was running absolutely fine. Left her all week at Austec anyway but no further reprocussions.

I've used redex injector cleaner for the last ten years on all the cars I've had.
They have mostly been high mileage cars when i got them (My Chims got 87K+ on the clock)so more likely to be a bit clogged up.
I'd swear it makes a difference, smoother idle & better pick up for a start.
