V12 Vantage tyres
Discussion
Hello, I've run my current tyres as far as they'll legally go and have just been trying to get some new ones. However, it turns out there's a Europe wide drought in P Zero's for the Vantage. One tyre dealer's told me 6 weeks and my nearest AM dealer has said that there's only one set in the country but the dealer's charging £50 extra as they're the only ones left. Given the time of year and the way I drive I've no interest in Corsas which do seem to be available. The AM dealer told me they couldn't supply anything else so What alternatives are there? Seems a remarkable situation to be in. Thanks.
I've just replaced the original P Zero Corsa's with a full set of P Zero's after 8000 miles and I have to say I am quite impressed so far - huge improvement in grip in at this time of year. I believe the normal P Zero are the only other officially recommended tyre - not sure why your AM dealer is telling you there are no other options.
I was rather pleasantly surprised at the cost too - supplied and fitted by JCT600, Leeds.
I'm sure they Michelin PSS is a damn good tyre too - but I don't believe it is an official tyre, which may or may not bother you of course.

Hello Adam, the current tyres are the normal P-Zeros and it's those everyone's telling me they've run out of. Mine've covered 8k and I didn't think they were brilliant but put it down to big feet and big engines. I'm inclined to try the Michelin just to see how they compare and not just because the PZ's not available. Thanks for the replies.

So someone would stick to Pirelli because Aston Martin says that only Pirelli is the official tyre ? I could understand that on other parts of the car, but tyre technology is constantly improving and I would go with the newest developments. BTW, the new GT12 runs on Michelin Supersport.

If there is a serious supply shortage, what will the factory be doing / using?
I seem to remember that a Michelin tyre is used on the GT12, rather than their previously favoured Pirelli for the V12 and Bridgestone for the V8.
Well regardless of the discussions over Michelin or pirelli, corsa or not, etc I just checked on Blackcircles.com and they appear to have in stock P zeros, not corsa, in am8 spec, at around £800 all in fitted for a set of 4 - I would NEVER get the Aston dealer to fit tyres, they normally work out between 75% and 150% more expensive than the best deals available elsewhere

Dealer £1740.00 for AM8s
ATS £810.00 for same tyres plus £70.00 M & S voucher for buying 4!
Exactly 1K cheaper for same tyres
Not remotely surprising, still shocking and worth bearing in mind that I understand the dealers have to buy from AML and they pay substantially more to AML than ATS or anyone else sells them for. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if AML pay more than £810 to buy them in and that's before allowing for their margin or the dealersATS £810.00 for same tyres plus £70.00 M & S voucher for buying 4!

Well, I've ordered the Michelins from Black Circles (thanks for the tip off). Fingers crossed they don't ring up and say they don't actually have them but I spoke to them and they assured me if it's on the website it's in stock. As for the dealer prices, I was quoted £50 more per tyre for the P-Zeros than I would have been able to get them for from Black Circles so not all dealers are equal but admittedly, you'd still be daft to pay it unless you were desperate.

I paid £815 fitted for a full set of four at JCT600 just 10 days ago, so not all AM dealers are expensive! They ordered them in specifically for me just 3 days before, so at that point stock wasn't a problem.GT Two said:
I have Michelin PSS on mine and the difference to the Corsa is quite noticeable, none of that squishy feeling on acceleration out of a corner and much much better cold grip.
In the wet the difference is massive.
I'm switching to these next year as well. The dealer sadly fitted new Corsas to the rear of mine last year when I took delivery so I best get on some track days and destroy them In the wet the difference is massive.
