I'm looking for a nice country inn/hotel near Pangbourne in Berkshire that has a proper restaurant, decent pub, some nice 4-poster beds etc etc. Needs to have at least 10 rooms, and is kiddy friendly.

Can anyone recommend anywhere. The only one I have found so far is a Best western, which isn;t quite what we had in mind!

Ta in advance.

How much do you want to spend?

How far away do you mind being?

If the answer is a lot and say, twenty miles the answer would be

www.tylneyhall.com

Less expensive and only sixteen miles away is the Wellington Arms on the A33.

Or if you go North there's the Swan in Goring (pretty) only four and half miles away which is right on the Thames.

I've stayed in Tylney Hall and its brilliant - if expensive.

Actually I stayed at the Copper Inn (Best Western) recently for a wedding and it was great. We had a 4 poster bed - better room then the bride and groom (think they screwed that choice up!!! )

Not sure about food as we were obviously catered for but there are several good places a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Forgot to mention that the pub in the hotel is OK but opposite and round the corner are two other reall good pubs - one of them bang on the river overlooking the weir.

Thanks guys

Tylney looks a little too far away and a little too pricey for some, I suspect.

We want to be as close to the Pangbourne area as poss as it is an old school reunion for a few of us who were like yer know sorta ejjercoited nearby.

The Copper thing didn't look to bad from the web site, darren, maybe I will take a closer look. Seems to cater for kids quite well, and mine are happy to nosh on pasta and pizza. If the bar is OK as well then we can abondon the kids to their slumber and imbibe donwstairs.

Cheers

You went to Pangbourne??

Well, that explains the dodgy map reading.

No, I went to Bradfield. AND I did a degree in Geography! So it just goes to show, a good ejerkashun don't mean you can find your way from A to B!
