Have to set this up for mid July as have been elected best man, groom not too thrilled at the thought of Amsterdam, then again neither is his future wife, but since its my choice, its tough luck, now all that is needed is an action packed weekend so any help and ideas are much appreciated.

I'm sure that some PHers have been here so I need locations for Hotels ideas and any must do activities, other than the blatantly obvious answers.

Cheers in advance.

Usually find an excuse to go there about once a year (8 times so far). Went for New Year last time.
Hotel Gerstekorrel near Dam Square is where we usually stay as its bang in the centre, walking distance to most of the major areas and the erm.. 'sights', pretty basic rooms but cheap and ideal for a group of blokes plus they do a fairly decent buffet breakfast. (the Dutch dont seem to 'do' breakfast and I've stayed places where its cheese, ham and bread and thats about it)

Obviously got to see the Red Light area, and theres the sexmuseum on Damstraat, and theres a good club complex type thingy... somewhere and... and... erm.... can't seem to remember much else about the place...
dont they have windmills and tulip fields and stuff like that?

I stayed at the Wiinnnstaaaan last time - cheap and cheerful. Seems trendy for some reason too.

I've heard the yabyum club is worth a look, if you like that sort of thing.

The club complex mentioned is probably the melkweg (Milky Way). Bit like a student union but some good music.

What time are we meeting and where?

Always missed out on the Amsterdam trips for one reason or another and have promised myself I'll get out there one day.

Have a great time.

Had my StagDo last year. It was perfect and if you follow my advice, you will be sure to have a good time.

By staying here www.hotel-prinshendrik.nl/ we ensured very, very reasonable value for money.

It also enabled us to land at the airport, catch a train to Amsterdam main station and simply walk across the road to the hotel, which is in a brilliant location.

Its so good in fact, that it is a couple of corners away from the red light district, A McDonalds, the main street and plenty of bars and coffee shops.

There is also a tram stop within 200yards to get anywhere else.

IDEAL!

Get it booked, you WILL thank me.

Amstel Botel - if its still there. Cheap on river and right next to Red Light area. Two minutes walk from British Bulldogs pub where all the engish gather when they get lost.

Been once (before married) and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I've only managed to make it into the Banana Bar once. Never ever ever again after what I saw in there...

Shame about Hooters, their 'bodyshot' was an interesting wake up call! Banana club - you are either the adventurous type or just highly intoxicated

Teasers is a great place to start the night
Pretty tame but a bodyshot all around gets you in the mood for debauchery later.
