Well, this probably won't be that exciting as a build but it should agther pace quite quickly towards the end.

In May a friend and I are taking part in the Scumrun event raising money for Action For A-T (Banger rally in which you have to drive a sub £500 car 3500 miles in 4 days).

Having done it in 2013 in a BMW 740i I decided that was too easy so a quick eBay search and I came across a BMW 328i Manual E36 Cabriolet fairly local for £300!
Bought, and the guy delivered it, it is a state, no MOT and has 224000 Miles on it, but the engine sounds brilliant and the oil was clean so all good signs, checking the MOT history it had loads of fails but then they were rectified and changed to passes within days of the original tests so looks like loads of work was carried out.

It required a front shock, rear spring and a lower arm and it passed it's MOT with a little bit of corrosion as an advisory. Since then we have changed the throttle cable and a couple of ball joints.

Now, the fun begins - no idea what colour it will go - if we could find someone that wants to graffiti it then we may be open to that idea... It's got the CB fitted and we even managed to get the electric roof working, so we can go topless through some scenic European passes!

Haven't decided what to do about the suspension as yet, and we have changed the tyres to a set of Dunlop SP bought from eBay with 1000 miles use for £50 so had them fitted to the original alloys.

Anyway, here are some pics and I will update as and when, we also have a facebook page

https://www.facebook.com/Scumrun-Team-Breaking-Dow...

and of course our Virgin Money Page whereby we have to raise our £500 (and hopefully exceed) target!

(Also if anyone close to Chichester/Worthing has any E36 bits they would like to donate to the car then please feel free to get in touch - or anything that you think we could bolt too it to be fair!)

As demand for updates on the car wasn't that high, i'll just post up a finished picture of it (minus the Scumrun graphics).

It's taken on a bit of a turn, it looked nice before but the paintwork was poor at best and so it needed changing, grey primer was used. Then after a Twitter plea we had a very generous offer from Red-E a graffiti artist who drove down from Wolverhampton to decorate the car in spray paint for us. This got us a lot more coverage, since then we have been getting donations from companies (financially and other) to help us with the mission. We asked for a minimum donation of £25 and then you can have your company logo on the car which proved popular. With donations of Tyres, and another company to make the actual graphics we were very thankful.

So, as the car sits, it has a couple of thousand more miles on it, a semi working roof - if only it was a manual roof (If anyone wants to swap a manual operating system for our working motors and wants to come and do it help yourself, the issue with our roof is the tension so the final resting microswitch doesn't know the roof is in place!

Should you feel compelled to help us in our plight to raise as much money as we can for Action For A-T we do have a just giving page (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/BreakingDown) and we are only £20 short of our required target, obviously we want to smash that so will think of some other stuff to do around work/family balance.

Also, if you would like your company logo on the car or have something to donate that we could find useful feel free to get in touch! The big kick off is the 19th May, and the car will also be at Goodwood on Sunday for the Soft Top Sunday breakfast club meet if your there come and have a laugh at the car - after all it's all for charity and we have no idea what we are doing with it after!.
