I am in the market for a late spec M3. I have viewed 4 so far at various dealers and getting a feel for what I want.
2 in particular that I like are a March 2012 and a July 2013. Is it likely that there would be any model changes between the 2?
Also, another that I was really interested in doesn't have the running in service in the book, but the garage has managed to get a copy of the invoice for it from the dealer who undertook the work and it was carried out at 1200 miles. I can't help but feel put off by this or should I not worry as there is proof it has been done?

If there's a service recorded on the system, and they can give you a print out of the work log for the car, I don't really see what the problem is. My local dealer gave me a very helpful printout for my car, setting out the work done, date and mileage of every visit to the dealer network. Far more useful than an inky stamp in a book.
Looks like there is another stream of experience day cars with the dealers, low mileage white M3s with BMW as the first owner on YF plates.
The dealers won't always be up front about it. Palmer motorsport/msv swap them around with BMW each year. New wheels, discs/pads and refit the interior, etc.

Luckily its not a white one I am looking for. Is there any other colours I should be aware of? Its naughty doing that. I know Audi was doing this recently with some of their RS cars from experience days.
One that I did look at said something as if it was a BMW employee lease car or something like that. Wasn't just a straight forward name and address.

Do your homework but be aware that Y prefix BMW's are 99% BMW UK ex-management cars. Typically high spec and low mileage.
My neighbour worked for Merc UK and was in the equivalent scheme. He was told to spec every car to the max and he typically punted his every 3 months (don't recall the mileage) into their "AUC" program.
Personally I cant get my head around BMW selling ex-Palmer sport cars as AUC knowing the thrashing they get. True or urban myth?
Ironically, kicking the nuts out of a Palmer-sport M3 DCT convinced me to part with my E39 M5 for an E90 M3 DCT.
Three and a half years on, and loving the E90, I still look at the E39 longingly

I think it's an urban myth myself......if you google the pictures of the Palmersport cars they would need a hell of a lot of work to magically appear as a low mileage mint AUC.
I am considering selling my white 2011 E92 (5 months AUC warranty remaining), mint 27k, DCT/EDC/PDC etc....it's definitely not a Palmersport car....pm me if you'd like more details.
