Windscreen wipers not auto-returning

The windscreen wipers on the Chimaera have started playing silly buggers and won't auto-park when you turn them off - they just stop and whatever point in the cycle they're at when you flip the stalk.

Any ideas?

What year is your Chim?

If its pre 2000 then the part is about £3 if its post 2000 its £244 as its integrated into the wiper motor as I discovered...

I bought one from a TVR dealer a while back for £5 .. or you could try a Lucas dealer.

The switch is underneath the motor.

Mine stopped auto parking for a short while.
Fixed itself

Worked out that intermittent stopped the wipers in the proper place, hence workaround was to pause the wiper column stalk on intermittent for a few seconds before turning off

Probably the usual TVR differences, but mine (also a 94 Chimaera) is Relay Number 9, RFLK 30, in the fuse board behind the battery

Use the TVR fix... don't use your wipers in the rain..

had the same problem on my Chim ...saw from previous bills that it's regular occurence...every 12-18 months so buy in a stock!!!!

Exactly the same thing happened to mine a while back, turned out to be the relay in footwell.

The top of the unit had been broken off by someones big bloody feet.
I took it apart and re-soldered it....sorted...
Have banned passengers so it won't happen again

Mine did this its explained in the steven heath book. The wiper motor is on the passenger side at the back of the engine, take the plug off and clean the terminals and spray with wd40 and fix back. You can loosen but not remove!! the screws that hold the motor in place for better access.

Same happened to me, the relay had fallen out. Just had to plug it back in.

clutching at straws as mine have packed up completely and, having checked the ribbon cable, fuse & park switch, I haven't a clue what's wrong

No help at all, but following Podie's quote, Spencer from Mole Valley (going back some time now) once told a customer on the phone, who reported a problem with wipers:- "but it's not raining" and then hung up!
