So...hearing this second hand but it's my job to resolve tomorrow.

Driving to work this morning, both headlights working ok, go to leave and both headlights are no longer working and the orange lamp is on. I know a blown bulb is easily sorted but both don't normally go together?

Just seems a little strange to go from all to nothing at once?

They were both working prior (she's good at checking) and there are no warnings. Both were working fine the other day when I was being followed.

Is this common/what's the likely cause

It's a late 2008 2.0 petrol

I've had that before with some uprated bulbs I'd fitted , both went at the same time!, I assume the bulb shorts briefly and takes out the other somehow

Thanks for that, went to VW to get some OEM bulbs today after suspecting that, pulled up at 12:30 after having the tyre changed after a puncture (same car) to be told that the parts dept. were closed, a minute previously, and nobody would go even slightly out of their way!

No can do until next weekend then!

Guess I'm going to have to chance it with some halfrauds bulbs then

Why are parts departments so universally crap, surely they know that nobody can get to their counter during the week?

The OEM bulbs will be marked LL (long life)

You can get these online from Osram
