Any calibration engineers in the house?
Discussion
I really didn't know where to put this, but thought here is the best place to get the attention of the Max_torque and wookies of this PH world. (slightly stalkerish that I know what they do, I know)
I am currently an undergrad doing a test engineer placement at an engine testing facility. I am loving being a 'proper' engineer, filling my days with a great mix of hands on tinkering, problem solving, data processing and communicating with customer engineers!
But I didn't come here to babble about my life so here goes; while engine development is fascinating I have always loved comparing and contrasting how cars behave and handle, I also really enjoyed using PID tuning to manipulate an ESP systems output using ADAMS in uni. This ofcourse lead me to the conclusion I want to be a chassis development/calibration engineer when I 'grow up'
I was just wondering how anyone in the biz got the necessary experience to get a role like that and how I could do the same (Not really allowed to have a big role in the uni formula student team and the only motorsport I can afford to do myself is club 100/BUKC), I'd also love to be pointed in the direction of some good literature on the subject (only relevant book I got from uni was the Bosch bible) to increase my somewhat basic knowledge of mechanical and digital suspension/chassis set up.
Thanks guys.
TL,DR: I want to be a chassis calibration engineer, how do I gain the necessary experience/knowledge?
