At work we have a lass called Kate. Sits near my desk.

One of the text editors I use is also called Kate (KDE Advanced Text Editor), any KDE on Linux/Solaris user will know what I mean.

So imagine how much fun it might be if one overheard conversations about the other.

E.g.

'I'll just open kate up'
'Slip it into kate and lets have a look'
'Tweak it inside kate'

Anyone else have to avoid such embarrasing encounters?

I've never met a girl called emacs, although I suppose Vi could occasionally cause problems :geek:

Yup. a guy at work was having a problem. I said 'could be worse, you could be a big fat bastud.'

Workmate sat next to him weighed at least 19 stone.

Was helping out support earlier and a customer asked me to look into an issue with a web-based program. The page was taking ages to load and then crashing so I said without thinking 'Oh no, I'm having problems getting it up today' - she wasn't too good at covering up her giggles

one of my old project managers was called Kaye. She was the female equivalent of Ozzy Osbourne. She was a pain in the arse and a right minger, I wouldn't even tough her with yours......

The way to remember which key was down was the phrase:
"you never go down with K!"

I knew someone who started going out with an Asian girl called 'Fun', about the time when I was greeting most people with 'Hi, are you having fun yet?' (I get stuck on some phrases for months, until even I'm sick of them).

I had a good one once when an IT bod asked to crawl around under my desk, then asked me to grab something and put it in the hole.
