Racing from Brooklands in Downton Abbey this evening (9pm, ITV November 1st). Unfortunately it clashes with 'Britiain's Ultimate Pilots' but may be worth watching when it's repeated.

The trailer looked like Goodwood to me.

It was mostly at Goodwood circuit with some odd bits somewhere else, were they at Brooklands?

Typical TV, it was supposed to be a race but they clearly weren't racing, they were just cruising round!

Also cars dating from the Edwardian era through to the late thirties in a programme set in 1925 and constant cut-always to the speedo in a Bentley mkVI/S-Type to show the speed of the race.

Woeful.

It was a work of fiction, not a documentary, so I guess some latitude ought to have been allowed.

I thought that the bits not on the circuit looked like Park Road or Molecomb Broadwalk, they weren't at Brooklands

The trees made me think of the Road Research place at Crowthorne?

It looked like Longcross Proving Ground near Chertsey and Chobham. Often used for TV productions, driving experiences etc.

The only connection with Brooklands was that the Red Vauxhall that was racing (?) features on the front cover the current Brooklands Bulletin.

The "grid" must have been worth about a million? so the producers, their insurers and the car owners would have been sh!!!!!!! themselves during filming.
Remember it's Downton Abbey, the "race" was just a small part,a bit silly but quite a good effort.
