hi . sent a part off my machine to be repaired by the maker which is in San Marino Italy. Its taken a long time to sort out but now it is ready for dispatch. Had to go to the bank to pay and by International transfer etc. That bit is all OK. Now I had a call from them saying they need a VAT number for the T2 document to enable it to go thru customs. As i am only a one time customer, not VAT registered etc, they are not able to send it. Please can anyone help or shed some light on it. .................thanks

And if VAT registration is a prerequiste for export, how does an individual buy anything from overseas?

Eric , you must have a different map to me then ! laugh

Simpo , I thought exactly the same thing, but they are insisting on it, cannot release shipment without it. furiousfuriousfurious

I have searched and found that an EORI might do, and something called a charge back. Read it and it all went blahhhhh and lost me. Try explaining it to an Italian . eekeek

Correct, and I guess this has something to do with them being dicks about it. Can't fathom why they can possibly need a VAT number to send something back though.

San Marino is an independent state surrounded by Italy. It is not part of the EU. Similar to Monaco in the way it operates, but with its own agreements in place with the EU.

e.g. http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/customs/custo...
