I'm an avid F1 fan and always attend at least 1 race a year, but I thought it would be fun to go and watch some rallying this year, especially as I could treat my Dad to a weekend away, he used to rally Escorts so should love this!
I've been to a few local rallying events but nothing on this scale, I understand there's a lot more work involved with planning your trip etc. Has anyone been before that could recommend good places to spectate from? Is it really busy and will we need to allow loads of time to move between stages? West Wales is a long drive from here so I was thinking of travelling up Friday night staying in a hotel or camping somewhere, can anyone recommend somewhere that won't be booked?
Saturday
I've read some info on their website and it sounds like Dyfi is a good place to watch from in the morning and then move onto Dyfnant in the afternoon, from the sounds of it they run every session twice so the 2nd time they run Dyfnant it will be dark which should be fun! Has anyone been to either of these locations? They're about 30 mins apart so that should work nicely. See below.
SS8 - Dyfi 1st car @ 0756
SS10 - Dyfi 1st car @1005
SS11 - Dyfnant 1st car @ 1153
SS14 - Dyfnant 1st car @1825

The final day of the WRC championship, again i'm only going off what i've read on the website but the "power stage" sounds pretty good to me so was thinking of starting the day at Llyn Brenig and then if there's time head to the final stage at Great Orme on the North Coast.
SS16 - Brenig 1st car @ 0826
SS18 - Great Orme 1st car @ 1020 (having looked at times probably won't make this stage)

Sounds like a huge amount of travelling but should be great fun, if anyone likes the sound of it then it would be cool to make this a little meet, the more the merrier! Having read what the terrain in the car parks is like I will probably won't take the VX

I recently went to Dyfi for bike riding and stayed at a hostel near Machynlleth
http://www.corrishostel.co.uk/ Was ok! hopefully they'll have put heaters on by now though!
Can't help with how to spectate as I've only been when it was in South Wales. Maybe try General Motorsport sub forum?
