Hi all.

Just completed a full mechanical overhaul on a 1980 SC targa I recently bought. Next job is the bodywork.

Could anyone recommend a good but cost effective body shop in and around the Hertfordshire area ?

Car spent most of its life in Scotland, so has usual tell tale rust, needs new seals, etc

THANKS

Fast Lane aren't bad at all and they're based in St Albans. I've used them in the past. On a car like yours I would want it stripped and checked for rust inside out. I'd personally send it to Sam at Precision Porsche as they specialise in classics.

Check this thread. Stunning results.

Thanks. Will give Sam a call. Tried Fast Lane. Quote was near £14k...my budget is about half of that.

Harpenden Classic and Performance, Southdown Industrial Est. Southdown Road, Harpenden, Herts AL5 1PW (0) 1582 469657. Kieran Giles.

Unprepossessing premises but has done faultless work for me on my BMW and came recommended by fellow 993 owner in Harpenden. I have a 993 and if unlimited budget would use a 'Porsche Specialist' like Riviera or Precision but would be tempted to ask Kieran, certainly on bumpers or front respray. Very busy and probably not that cheap but well worth a visit.

For around £15k 911 Retro Works will do you a backdate. http://www.911-retro-works.co.uk/bespoke.html
Give Rick a call, i'm sure he'll be competitive on price.

Strip the car yourself, sub-contract the bodywork and paint and then re-build it yourself. You *might* be able to do that for £7k.

You could try Peter Light in Potters Bar. He painted mine with outstanding results and often has quite a few older 911's being worked on (the bodies that is he does not do mechanical)
