I need to re-finance the car in January as my deal comes to an end. BMW have kindly offered a rate of 5.9% apr so I can clearly do better. Total is £14k.

Does anyone have experience with companies that are happy to loan to self employed? Could do without any rejections on file at the moment as I'm planning a house purchase. Sainsbury comes up at 90% eligibility on moneysavingexpert but I need to be sure I'll be approved.

0% credit card for 2 years for some if not all of the outstanding balance ?

Halifax are currently doing 23 months at 0% for example.

Never had a problem in the past but that was over 8 years ago. Things have changed a lot, have you chatted to who you bank with?

I'd rather steer clear of more credit cards. I've already got 4 or 5 open (1 with a balance on it) so aiming to close them.

I have however just read that a rejection isn't logged on your profile - just the application itself.

I'll speak with my bank and see what they can offer. I think i'm pre-approved for a loan already with them.

Many will want an accountants certificate - often not the best thing if he's earned his money! This is the rub as you know...

I'm thinking of just going for the BMW finance. I just need to check what info they need but from what I can remember they were very very basic checks - similar to a credit card.

I've read about traditional lenders asking for all sorts of info and then not guaranteeing you get their low rates anyways.
