Courtesy car

My 997 is going in for some work this weekend (boring stuff plus a PSE retrofit). I will have the honour, for a few days, of driving a Citreon Cactus as a courtesy car!

I know that I should, in typical PH fashion, be spitting nails and crying about it. But I am actually looking forward to prating around in a st-mobile for a few days. I know it's a crap car, but new is always interesting at least for a few hundred miles.

Anyone else had a comedy courtesy car from an OPC?

I once got a Ford Fiesta when my 550 Maranello was in for a service at a Ferrari main dealer (won't name and shame!). I must confess I did a bit of a double take when they showed me what I was getting, but I wasn't in the mood for complaining.

The dangerous bit comes when you start to wonder what you forked out all that money for, when the 'crap' car does everything just as well.

Not much a risk of that given that I will be driving some excellent roads that are perfect for a 911 and less so for a soggy French faux-by-faux.

Most of the reviews are pretty bad, but it is possible to find decent ones. As I say, I'll give it a write up on here next week in case anyone is interested. I still haven't got round to giving my thoughts on the 997, so will do that soon, too.

I used have a new Honda Accord Sport. Nice car actually.

On one service, they gave me a pink Jazz!

It didnt bother me at all, made me laugh. And it was actually a good little motor.

Always offered something nice from my OPC as a courtesy car. Most recently a 991 S with 7 miles on the clock. Sister in Law wasn't impressed when she took her Cayenne Turbo in for some warranty work at the same OPC a few days later. All she was offered was a lift to work in a Polo!

I had a Chevrolet Matiz Auto once for a courtesy car a few years back. Could drive most of the commute with the accelerator pinned, downhill it could almost reach 85 and serious corner lean meant not much speed was needed for a sort of laughable excitement.

Back on topic, I've normally been quite lucky with courtesy cars, although I was once promised a Cayman S so had planned a bit of a bit of a jolly, only to turn up and find I'd got a Mini Countryman ... To be fair when I mentioned it to the salesman he sorted out a 991 C4S, so happy days! Generally I'll take what I'm given as essentially it's a free car, but in that instance I'd had my expectations raised enough to complain.
