Hi
Thinking of changing the Turbo S and the GT3 itch is calling. Obviously a great car and lots of review on PH and the web, however I have failed to find anyone commenting on the comfort as a daily driver. I assume the suspension is going to be very stiff and the ride bumpy, but is this the case?

I am aware of the comfort spec option, but is this just the seating and the internals, will the ride be more forgiving, or will I not even notice.

I have no intention to track this car, it is a weekend drive and the odd blast into the office. As back ground I have had a number of Porsches from C4S, GTS, a couple of turbos so have a few miles under my belt in these Awesome cars :-)

Thoughts from those with the experience of driving GT3s would be appreciated.
Thanks

Comfort will be fine, if a bit noisier than your other 911's.

The ride is surprisingly good, Comfort spec is different seats which I had no problem with (997.1) and found them quite supportive and comfortable on long journeys (Le Mans & Spa). I've driven a 991 GT3 and the same applies.

Great cars for what you want to use it for.

Go for it smile

It looks like you have a 997.2 Turbo, I would def take a test drive on the 991 Turbo S and put £20k in your pocket over the GT3

"I have no intention to track this car" = why buy a GT3 ?

The ride is firmer than the standard cars which in turn will be firmer than mainstream vehicles, but it's certainly not bone-crushingly harsh and could be used on a daily basis.

You are correct that the Comfort cars and Club Sport cars have the same suspension so one won't be more comfortable than the other - the big difference with the CS is the cage.

While you can easily use the car on a daily basis, I think it makes more sense to save it for weekends & special ocassions

Personally I think the best compromise (for the sort of driving you'll be doing) is to get a Comfort spec car with the bucket seats - they are extremely comfortable for regular use and really suit the car - probably few cars around though.

Because the GT3 is a far more involving road car than the Turbo.

mmm depends what you want from a interaction point, now on my 3rd 991Turbo S, imv there is no better car on the planet as DD, but its all about the torque, it gets a bit bland after a while. Ran 991GT3 comfort for about 20 months, used most days when conditions would allow, Cups don't like wet.

If I had to pick one, it would be the GT3 7/10s of the performance of the TTS, but from a fun interaction point, one of the best cars I have ever owned....

Has there ever been a post on the Porsche forum you haven't replied on, do you have an alarm that goes off when someone posts a new topic? biggrin

I have owned GT3 models and didn't take them on track but I would not consider that to be a waste. Some very memorable early Sunday morning and Scottish highlands drives though with the comfort of air con, nav and radio 4

Perfect as a daily and 100% more fun than a Turbo - they're absolutely brilliant cars smile

PS don't be put off by bucket seats - they are really very comfortable - IMW more supportive than the 18 way comforts .

1000's I don't post that much really, 991 Turbo S is a whole new drive over the 997 turbo though.

I'm 5000 road miles in and its a wonderful car for regular use. The basic seat is one of the most comfortable Ive ever used and works well on track too (Im tall and skinny). I actually wanted the buckets and made do without but I have no complaints at all about the seating. You will need the front lift.

Its got lots of noises going on that passengers don't understand but its all part of it smile

I drove a turbo S recently and after the GT3 it just didn't do anything for me.

Agree. Nothing wrong picking the gt3 as your roadcar of choice even if you're not planning to track - at the end of the day they're still roadcars that happen to be very good on track, not the other way around (thats the RS's raison d'etre).

Doooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

Just sold my 991 GT3 comfort after 18 months and 7500 miles, great dd car, I had 18 way seats and they are very comfortable and supportive although I never tracked the car. I would say lift is essential and not having a cage allows thing to be easily carried behind the seats, pccb's also a big plus.

I've had 2 991 GT3s, both clubsports with buckets seats, and front axle lift. 1 had PCCB, and the other steels. I preferred the car on ceramics.

You are correct, comfort spec just refers to the seats - the suspension is the same on both. The ride is surprisingly comfortable for a GT car. Not as 'crashy' as a 997 GT3 or RS, but not as soft as a 991 Turbo S

The 991 GT3 will make a great car to use every day. While the Turbo S may have more traction, and does come with grippier tyres for wet weather, the GT3 is the more involving car.

If I were you, I'd search for a car with bucket seats. They are superbly comfortable (I drove to Italy and back in 2 days, never felt any discomfort) and it makes the car feel more special. Front lift I'd suggest a must, the front end is low..!

The GT3 makes all sorts of noises and vibrations, especially at idle, that just don't exist in a Turbo S...Reason enough to get one..!

I know you have lots of amazing cars but how on earth do you end up owning three 991 Turbo S 's when they've only been out for two years?

Surely keeping the 1st one would make more sense than taking two baths on the 1st two?

Is it really that much better than the 997 Turbo S, I understood the 997 Turbo S to be one of the all time great do everything super cars ?
