Dodge does it again!

I don't trust any American tests - I spend a lot of time in the US and every car magazine I read has all the US cars beating European cars, which is frankly laughable. I am sure this Dodge had full race preparation, and if it's suspension was specifically setup, aero played with, engine tuned, slick tyres etc, then of course it would break records.
To say a N/A 650bhp i car can beat two hybrids with 900BHP is just fanciful.

Would be interesting to know how much downforce its developing - being able to pull so much lateral acceleration suggests its quite a bit.http://wot.motortrend.com/wrecking_the_production_...

The viper is self adjustable wing suspension and front splitter, the tyres are road legal. It's simple to setup for track rather than road as it's just a few turns on the adjustable suspension and undo and redo the wing into a more down facing position and adjust tyre pressure. what do you think they did with their 918 and p1?

And what do you think Porsche and mclaren do?

The Porsche + McLaren were stock cars - there is no way McLaren went over to the US to try and set a good time in a track they don't care about. The Dodge had a huge team who were out there for pure PR purposes only trying to set lap records with huge resources behind them, in no way a fair comparison, you put a 'stock' Viper ACR up against a stock P1 and it will absolutely murder it. A 675LT would likely beat it without too much trouble as well. The viper is self adjustable wing suspension and front splitter, the tyres are road legal. Actually McLaren sent a crew over with serious F1 experience to setup that P1 for the owner. Porsche sent the car and a couple members of the LeMans team to setup the 918. So I'd say it was a fair comparison, don't discount the acr just because you think the 918 and p1 are far superior cars, don't forget the previous acr was the fastest car around the many tracks.
And the Gen4 ACR that set the ring time was off the forecourt of viperexchange, not some factory special, and dodge are not exactly renowned at the moment for putting loads of money into their marketing and racing departments. Chances are these records are more a group of enthusiastic factory workers rather than a huge budget operation, For sure if there was money they would have been to the ring rather than 13 local tracksNickOrangeCars said:

Not if your at a Pistonheads meet, that would be perfect for placing morning coffees and cup cakes on

NB please don't stand on my wing if you see my car parked somewhere!

I suppose that logically it's fine as the amount of downforce that is producing is probably greater than one human.NB please don't stand on my wing if you see my car parked somewhere!

I will avoid standing on your wing but I can't guarantee it won't be covered in drool.
