looking for a bit of guidance- i'm looking at a couple of nice 308 QVs in the SE, very similar in many respects. Service and past works carried out by well known Ferrari independents on both. So I want to make sure that although a great garage the same engineer doesn't carryout an inspection on their own work or compare another against their work.
im Down to a either KHPC(The Ferrari centre), Foskers and maybe QV, although they had seen one of the cars a while back.

Any preferences on these over each other for a PPI, but also future maintenance and detailing?

Don't see any issues with those you've mentioned, but if I ever needed another ppi I would call Tim Walker 'Walkersport'. Very knowledgeable and has done many ppi's for clients countrywide.

Thanks. I agree Tim is very good and has PPI'd one of these cars in the past for its vendor. Main reason for trying to choose between these three is to then also use them for service maintenance, works etc after the inspection, as more local. If read a few old threads and all get a good review, but then a few unhappy customers as well. Wondered if anyone had exp of 2 or more of them? So not just mechanically, is any better than the other at body work, electrical etc or is
Just too close to call?

I can vouch for Foskers. I think Alastair Gill who runs their workshop may be ex KHPC too, ironically.

I hear good things from people whose opinion I trust about QV.

And Tim Walker was of great help to me when sorting out some parts for my Vetro.

So it might boil down to where in the country these cars are?

+1 for Tim Walker, he was a tremendous help guiding me through the pitfalls of buying an older Ferrari.

Thanks.
Both cars are in the South East. One nearer QV and one nearer KHPC & Foskers. Im also roughly equidistant in travel time from all of them when heading round the M25 either anti or clockwise. Hence the little dilemma on who to chose.

QV now outsource detailing & bodywork so it may be a choice of KHPC or Foskers for bodywork and detailing, anyone had body work carried out by either? .

I've seen the work Foskers have done and they are about to start work on my Vetro. Does that help your decision? Speak to Alastair.

Anyone know if KHPC/The Ferrari centre bodywork is done in-house or do they all outsource?

I think only Barkaway's and Autofficina have proper facilities to do paint in house in that part of the world. I don't necessarily see why that should be a problem though. Surely what matters is that the work is done well and at a fair price?

...and ironically. Barkway sub contracted some work to them recently, I believe.... smile Ian used to work for them, I am sure you know.
