Jaguar Series 2 wipers
Discussion
Got a 1975 XJC and the wipers are awful. Very slow and when you turn them off the stop somewhere random on the screen (more often than not right infront of your face) . It has had a rebuilt motor. Is there anything out there that can replace the lot with something more modern and useful?

Friction in the system is your enemy.
Take the dashboard top off and lubricate the little gearboxes at the base of the wiper, and also the spindles that the wiper arms mount on. Remove the wiper arms, then the wiper motor, and withdraw the toothed cable that goes up to the gearboxes. Clean and lubricate, then refit it.
Lastly, somewhere on the Jag-lovers forums is a fix for getting current to the motor direct from the battery rather than having to go through 14 miles of small cable.
They don't "all do that" its just that people seem to put up with it. :P
