Seems that that good 4S's are moving up and heading towards Turbo land last year

I have a low mileage one that I've owned for 15 years and now getting stressed about leaving outside it outside the house in the wind and rain

Seems that it should be stored away over the winter months

Still can't believe that my car is now £80,000 +++

what is the highest you know that one has actually sold/been bought for (not advertised)

I sold my second owner '97 plate (post £4k refurb, with hardback, hollow spokes, manual, coupe, black leather, sunroof) for £20k biggrin

Interesting review in the Sunday Times driving section about the 993 as an investment
Predicts values to continue to rise

In fairness, it's not just 993s.

Quite a lot of specific makes and models have seen values and asking prices (not necessarily the same thing) rise significantly in recent years.

But, it's true that not everything is selling. Some cars have languished in the classified for yonks.

With cars like the 3.2/964/993/etc 'low mileage' does seem to be an important factor - how low is yours?

If you are getting stressed, sell it, seriously. Whats the point?

Or, forget the value and enjoy it as intended and just look after it and maintain it correctly.

Simple really.

Don't worry - I have no intention of moth balling it
But it needs tucked up for the winter
I've had it for 15 years and loved every minute
55000 miles, only one previous owner and full Porsche history year in year out

Needs to be tucked up for winter?

I don't think that having it outside day in day out is good for the car
Sadly I only have one garage space and the 911 GT3 sits in that one
Would you leave a 993 outside day in day out?
Surely not

I leave mine outside and have done since buying it 5 years ago. It is on a drive, occasionally I have a car cover on it if I am not using it that much and have added 80k miles to it. It now stands at 155,535 and there are no creaks, rattles or rolls. It has been driven in the worst weather the UK can through at it and has survived countless winters and the dreaded salt and still starts on the button every time I need it even if it has been left for a few weeks.
I don't understand why people think leaving a modern car outside is not good for it? Sure a garage would mean it stayed cleaner but as long as you use it, clean it then I can't see what is wrong.

I would suggest there are two points here.

1) have another garage built, or move home.

(sub-point) which is worse for a car - lack of use or a slightly accelerated rate of corrosion?

2) As is said many times on many threads, we are not on this earth for very long.

Enjoy your time.

I agree that UV does damage the paint and the interior/seals/blah to a degree, but corrosion on a 993 is not a death-knell - it's only the chassis-legs (which only need to be treated once) screen apertures and wheelarches eventually - it wasn't made by British Leyland.

Yes - the value might go down faster if you leave it outside - you'll be annoyed with yourself, when you are dead, that your wife couldn't subsequently buy quite as many shoes with the proceeds of the sale of the 993.....

But it may be true. Look at the bigger classic market and a 993 is cheap compared to many other 'classics' rightly or wrongly

And we were out in the dark-blue front-engined flat-six today - I was driving sedately, as always.

You really must clear off the snow before driving off - when the snow flies off, it could have somebody's eye out.

In winter I always carry pan-scourers in the 993 to clear the snow off the paintwork properly.

Phew.

BTW, I had to fix the photo for you - apologies but it's the '993' within me.

I was straightening the picture hanging on your wall - actually it's still slightly off, but if I put it exactly flat it makes your car look wonky. Can't have that.
