Dodge launches biggest pickup ever
Yes it's got a Hemi -- but it's also huge...
Dodge's all-new 2006 Ram Mega Cab is being touted as the biggest pickup cab ever. Parent company DaimlerChrysler hasn't said when or if it'll be marketed in Europe.
You get a choice of two engines, a 5.9-litre Cummins turbo-diesel, available on the 2500 and standard on the 3500 model, is rated at 610 lb-ft of torque and 325bhp. It is available with a new six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 5.7-litre Hemi V8 is standard on the Dodge Ram Mega Cab 1500 and 2500 models, offering 345bhp and 375 lb-ft of torque, available with a five-speed automatic transmission.
Amenities offered include a full-screen navigation radio, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, power-sliding rear window, heated front bucket seats, power sunroof and adjustable pedals. You get 145.2 cubic feet of interior space with reclining rear seats, tilting back from a 22 to 37 degree seatback angle, leg room of 44.2 inches and split rear seats.
The company blurb patters on, "The Laramie trim features a chrome front fascia appliqué, creating a rugged yet premium look. It features a dual-lamp system, yet is designed with the premium look of quad headlamps. Lamps are precise in appearance and extend deep into the fender, giving the Dodge Ram Mega Cab’s front end presence a truly distinctive look from both front and side views."
You also get an instrument panel "with precise gauges and large, user-friendly buttons and knobs. In addition, generous storage bins and compartments, flexible-sized cup holders, and premium materials create a functional and upscale atmosphere within the all-new 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab."
The only question is where you'd park it.
About the other guy that says the diesel is impractical in this "light" truck, is that we are not really concern about the economy of the diesel but of the pulling torque that this diesel create that can tow up to 15,500 pounds trailer, which is really good for a full size "light" truck.
Im in Atlanta Ga and trucks are the biggest sellers in here in the US and mostly is needed for small business or construction and i agree that is impractical for the narrow and small streets of uk!!
But the driving expreience on this trucks are really good ! actually i got a the 1500 of this truck ver!
Quite sick . . .

This is what I hate about American cars... non-functional hood-scoops, fake side air intakes, fake this, fake that... why does everything on American cars have to be fake?
