400SE tyres on 15" rims

Here we go - tyres again.

400SE - standard split rims.

I've looked at SO3's but they are a bit expensive at £130 a wheel, anyone found them cheaper than that?

Falkens are available but not the good ones because it's 15", so I don't want to go there.

Any other suggestions?

The Falken ZE512 tyre is an all season performance tyre with an attractive uni-directional tread design and circumferential grooves for superior wet weather handling. Not too bad considering these are nearly half the price of the top brand tyres, I may go for these on the 400SE as I had Falkens on my Esprit and they were excellent.

I got my SO3 from www.mytyres.co.uk , and they were £102 each. You do need to get them fitted though.

There's a big difference between Falken's fk451 and the ze512. The latter is rumoured to have a bit of a sloppy sidewall and cornering ain't so good.

But the excellent fk451 isn't available on a 15" rim in our size - shame.

I was finding SO3 a tad pricey so now on Toyo TS1 (?) 209 a pair fitted and balanced.

Slightly oddball suggestion but I use Uniroyal 540 Rallyes which cost about 70 quid a corner, now the dry grip isn't as good as the bridgestones et al ( although still good) but the wet grip is simply excellent, made no end of difference

Will be a little mopre for the 400 because they are on 225/50/15s instead of 205/60s. IMHO I'd just stick to the F1 GSD3s - it's not worth saving a few pence.

Don't know what they cost or if you can still get them as they were on the car when I bought it but the Kumho Ecsta's on it give superb dry grip although they look like they are wearing pretty quickly.
