Looking to make a homemade tandoor in the same style as the one shown on the Jamie Oliver TV program (bin, firebricks, plant pot, vermiculite). Before anyone says yes it is an odd time of year for this but why not!

Was wanting to put it in a 200L oil drum rather than a bin, ideally an open top one with a spring clip lid that way it can be sealed up and left outside and should last a bit longer than one in a bin. Only trouble is I cant seem to find anywhere that does recon drums nearby (Banbury area), anyone got any ideas on where I could get hold of a drum in decent condition or reconditioned nearby?

Promise of pictures of the build / first cook sometime later in the year...

I can't comment on the suitability of steel for a tandoor, I had thought most people used clay pots.. but I've heard people buy unlined and unpainted drums from these guys for building smokers:
