Has anyone here used these before? Any thoughts/suggestions? Looking to replace the stock ones.

I'd recommend these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motamec-Racing-Formula-F...

They're much cheaper than the ones you mention, and they're very good. The design is based on Spa mirrors, widely used on Caterhams, but they have a cunning screw added to stop the mirrors slipping easily out of adjustment, which is an annoying Spa fault.

I've had them on both my last and my present car - mounted directly onto the flappy doors, just like Caterham standard mirrors - and I find them excellent.

FST - thanks for that suggestion, they look good and seen as the main reason for replacing is to get around the "slipping out of position" issue, the screw seems helpful!

Hi I am guessing you had to drill new fixing holes in the door ?

- Are they easily removable as I only want them when driving with no doors
- are they convex or flat?

I'm the same. They screw in and out really easily, into one of the holes already on the screen, so no need to drill any extras. Pretty sure they're flat, but was surprised how good the visibility is.

I am slightly concerned that they are flat and not convex. Flat mirrors will not give good field of view - aren't they it?

If they screw into one of the holes already in the screen does it mean you didn't need to use the bolt supplied and you just screwed the mirror into the windscreen frame?

I like the look of those mirrors too - when you mounted them what did you do about the existing ones on the door? They come off simply enough but dont they leave a bit of an unsightly gap where the screws used to be?

I bought those ebay ones too. Highly recommend them.

In terms of fitting, I took the old mirrors off (unscrewed from the mounting point on the side of the screen). This has resulted in a small hole remaining but it's such a minor issue as to be not worth worrying about.

Fitting the new mirrors in a suitable place (as per the ebay pics) requires you to drill a new hole in the screen, one for each side. I found this relatively easy with the screen being aluminium. You just have to be careful that as you drill through the screen you don't follow through and mark the paintwork. If you look at the side of the screen, there is a nice little gap where the screen goes up vertically and the dash begins to bend inwards towards the centre of the car. There is enough of a gap there to drill through and then fit the retaining nut behind the screen.
