The free period on my Norton anti virus is up soon. Is there a good free one I can download? I run a zone alarm firewall (the free version).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Many of the main companies make a free version of their product available as a way to entice people to buy their full product/raise awareness of their products/name.

Another is www.avast.com (better than AVG IMO) and there are few others as well

We use AVG at work. This means we have to pay. The free version is just for Home users. But we started using it at work because we all ran it on our home PC's.... Thats why they have a free version.

You could always just register the trial version of Norton, it's a fairly easy process, all you need is a keygen, which is easy to find and they usually come with instructions on how to crack the software.

Just a thought I know not everyone likes doing this but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I run AVG on my machines at home.. it works very well..

I also run Lansuite from software 602 as a proxy/firewall/mail server etc etc etc...

Lansuite actually uses the AVG kernel and will scan mail on the server prior to it reaching your desktop..

That is however a slight oversight by software 602, the AVG edition is actually a premium purchase, but if you install the standard version of lansuite with AVG they both work together marvellously..
