In short my January 2015 New Year resolution was to get fit and lose weight. I was 18 stone (6'2") ...... I've completely transformed from unfit 'heart attack waiting to happen' down slightly over 14 stone (approx.) and doing circuits / HIIT / spin three times a week at 6:30am . I've never felt better, fitter and more alive . My diet is very focussed with no rubbish whatsoever (fruit/veg/nuts/chicken/salad/meat/water etc), however I only go for a bowel movement once every three days and still constantly feel 'clogged up'. My only vice is black tea & coffee.

Look, I know this subject isn't the most glamorous but in the overall scheme of a healthy lifestyle its important. My entire outlook on many levels has changed for the better however this is the one thing that I'm still not happy about.

Any advise / hints / tips for a super healthy bowel ?

Thanks again Barry

I only poo every couple of days. I don't think there's a "right" amount.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Like you, I've lost plenty off weight.

I'll poo every other day. Diet has plenty of fibre as well.

When I first started to diet, it was regular, everyday in the morning.

Over the last 6 months things changed, no idea why either.

I find its worse when I eat red meat.

I don't worry about it, just go with the flow.

First thing that sprung to mind.

Also, list your typical daily intake with quantities. It might be that you're not eating much.

Also, is your stool soft or hard?

I eat fairly healthily, go once a day and it's nice and soft. I can't remember the last time I had constipation.

If you think it's of a mild concern, you could try yoga as the twisting can encourage peristaltic movement.

Poo is waste. If you don't eat food your body can't use you won't have any coming out the other end. When I did a Keto diet I was going about once a week and there wasn't much of it. Not at all constipated either. Depends what you mean by clogged up?

Fibre is overrated as a "food". If I have a mix of porridge and all-bran, most days, I'm regular as clockwork and have the ability to challenge any toilet. I'm not just talking multiple flushes here, I'm talking actual load capacity of the bowl! If your diet has improved in nutrition then there is less crap going in, less crap coming out.

But yeah, check your water intake.
