Well not me, but I read the blurb and....

You will be asked to submit a selection of your best shots (a minimum of five, a maximum of ten) in high quality jpeg format, not exceeding 1.500 pixels.
And assuming that's a "European comma", that's a jpeg something like 38 x 38 pixels ....

All jokes aside
I shall be entering. Just seen the prize for the winner. I know there are some seriously good eyes out there and I don't expect to win, but i think I have a broad enough range of images to submit, and as they say, gotta be in it to win it!
Good luck! It'd be great to see some PHers on the programme. I just hope the don't cliche the hell out of it and ask you to 'take your photography to the next level'.

I'm not sure of the format yet but I'd hope they get the entrants to take new photos as well as show some of their portfolio. I'm hoping for something like Guitar Star but for photography.
Will see what happens thanks!
The questions section is quite in depth. But I think I nailed them alright. It's the 2min video I'm quizzing myself over. Do I just rehash what I've said in the Q&As, or just brief out a new direction on them instead!

I'd say the video will be the main deciding factor when it comes to selecting the entrants, have a look at some interviews with some well known (contemporary) photographers - Perou, Rankin, Platon; spot the theme there? You have to be addressed by a single name as well The questions section is quite in depth. But I think I nailed them alright. It's the 2min video I'm quizzing myself over. Just to add theres a series on Sky Arts called Capture (think its on Youtube as well) might be worth a watch to get some ideas for the video.

The quality of some of the pics on here 'we' (as in all of us ph-ers) have to have a chance.
Depends what the judges are looking for, I've seen some competition winning photos and wondered how the judges came to their conclusions. The Taylor Wessing competition always raises an eyebrow or two.

There is also that fact you'll probably have to produce a photo dictated by a brief from the judges, and just because someone can do great studio work doesn't mean they'll be able to produce a fantastic landscape, and vice versa.
Lots of photographers have never used strobes, and I'm guessing that there will be an element of studio photography in the series - unless they are going to follow the Guitar Star format and have people in their chosen genres.
It will probably be some contrived b
ks that will win...Edited by Pickled on Friday 13th November 22:00

I suspect they will be looking for people who can shoot a bit of everything so if your submitted images are all landscapes then no matter how good they are you won't be getting on. Reading the t&c's it seems there will be both digital and film elements and you are only allowed to use the kit they provide so be prepared to maybe have to shoot a landscape with a 5x4.
Having watched the pottery thing this week I wonder if there would be separate challenges such as having to dodge and burn in a dark room, or clone an image with photoshop.
I wouldn't get too hung up about what to say in the video as I would imagine it's just a general check as to how telegenic you might be.

I am thinking that too, they specificity state that the video should just introduce yourself, and state why you think they should choose you.
The criteria states that you must have a strong grasp of written and spoken English, so the video will serve a second purpose next to the answers you give in the questions, so they can gauge how you articulate yourself in both formats.
I agree that they are almost certainly looking for submitted work in multiple genres, not just portraits, or landscapes. They will no doubt be looking for studio work where artificial light is used, ambient shots with natural light, stages shots and the like.
I think I have submitted shots that display that without a problem and supports the answers I have given in the questions. I'll record a video tomorrow I think.
The questions are quite broad, there are 25 of them.
