Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor RIP
Discussion
Gutted. I can remember that, as much as anything on the Ace of Spades album I bought as an 11 year old, it was the drumming - especially on Jailbait - that really hooked me. For some time, I wanted to be a drummer just because of him.
I was lucky enough to have seen his last ever appearance on stage with the band last year in Birmingham - even luckier that Fast Eddie joined the band to take lead on the Ace of Spades - and sadly he looked pretty knackered then.
Rest in Philth you legend.

yes, legend.
Part of my growing up. Totally unique group of guys.
Bit later as an old bloke my mate dragged me to see the new Motorhead at the Brixton academy and I was blown away again
This has to be the best lighting rig ever.

I remember in an interview Lemmy being asked why he chose a German bomber for the lighting rig and his reply was along the lines of "the Germans always had the best kit". In some cases, yes, but...the He-111? Hardly.Gandahar said:

I saw them at Leicester de Montford Hall on the "Bomber" tour, the rig then only had two rotating lights for engines, and was a good (ish) copy of a Heinkel 111.
