Hey, great stuff. You can do conclusive back to back comparisons of ECS v EIX plugs now!
Yeah what a great idea Pupp, and I can prove my point that you will make no more power on the iridiums whatsoever just as I've always said. It's not about power, but for those who are obsessed by power I can see why they find it so difficult to absorb that point.
Actually I have far better things to do with a proper hub dyno setup than mess about with spark plugs.
But you crack on Pupp if you're genuinely interested.
Been done on the rollers.

Crikey guys, I only posted this as a piece of news that might interest the TVR community.
To be honest It continually amazes me that people just view a rolling road (or in this case a far superior hub dyno) as a means of measuring peak power output.
What Lloyds have invested in here is a sophisticated tuning tool, not a a device to facilitate schoolboy horsepower bragging!
The team at Lloyd Specialist Developments are extremely intelligent engine mappers who are now in possession of their very own dynamometer to further enhance their already excellent work, if people can't see this they are completely missing the point of my post.
Obtaing such equipment is a big investment and quite a step forward for their business, it will massively benefit their customers both existing and prospective. This is a business that has grown from nothing over the last few years to become one of the go-to specialists for anyone considering removing the 14CUX and distributor on their TVR and replacing it with a mapalpable engine management system, a business that is quite clearly reinvesting their profits in equipment that will help them deliver even better results for their customers.
Some time ago I was fortunate enough to spend a full day on a much cruder traditional rolling road mapping my car, I'd never used a rolling road before but I immediacy discovered the ability to hold the engine at a fixed load site in complete safety while we experimented with changes in AFR and ignition timing to deliver peak cylinder pressures at that given load site was an absolute revelation.
Please don't confuse a proper dyno cell with those dreadful portable rolling road setups that get wheeled out like a fairground ride at TVR events to help owners brag about one specific peak power figure at one specific RPM point.
What Lloyds have here is very clever piece of kit that further enhances their intelligent approach to to complex world of engine management and can only serve to further improve the already excellent service they have been providing to their loyal customer base for a number of years.
I'm sure if you just wanted to strap your TVR to their new dyno just to record some irrelivent peak horsepower figure you can, but that simply shows a deep ignorance of what we have here and is massively missing the point.
I'm not promoting Lloyds here, the standard of their work does that for them without the need for help from me. All I'm doing here is updating the TVR community on an exciting development at one of our best TVR specialists, which I had thought would be of interest to you all?
If people don't understand what it means for an engine management specialist to now have a chassis dynamometer facility on site can I politely suggest they stick to their fairground ride peak power rigs.
For the rest of us who can clearly see the benefits of engine tuning using a proper chassis dynamometer facility... I trust you found this news of interest?

A very impressive piece of kit and a good investment for Lloyds. Amongst the TVR tuners the dyno at TVR power was probably the most accurate being a single roller dyno, this hub dyno that Lloyds have on paper should be even more accurate.
I wonder if Lloyds would be interested in hosting a TVR dyno shootout day like we used to do at Surrey Rolling road?
I agree with you on the portable dynos, for some reason whenever I see a dyno at a TVR event I can never resist the temptation of putting the old girl on for a run. The results I have had from various dynos vary massively. The figures are only really good to compare against other cars run on the same day.
How is your S10 conversion going?

Good luck to em and their new bit of kit onwards and upwards
I speak has I find and I have heard no bad reviews of these boys unlike others
that means a lot nowadays we all know that TVR is a pull ya pants down brand
even though it don't affect me but I don't like people getting stuffed

can recommend them for the work that has been done to the chim and to the T350. ecu wise makes sense as inhouse mapping of the car will

be way easy compared to external. def will go there once there is some space for a new project.
Can only be good news for them, I know how frustrating it is to either have to farm your mapping out, or pay for dyno time on other dynos .. purchasing a dyno 10 years ago was one of the best business decisions I made, they won't regret it.
I have one of those portable dynos you've poo-pooed though. It's become the industry standard amongst the tvr brigade and beyond (thanks in no small part to the excellent work charlie at SRR has done over the years) .. to me your more ridiculous comments undermine (by association) the good work done at Lloyds.

I do get why a trader might want to defend his equipment, but I'm really struggling to decipher your back to front logic there
I guess even though Piston Heads is meant for enthusiasts and not intended as a platform for traders, you're still entitled to you're opinion... but those comments are quite strong (not to mention nonsensical)

If I was a TVR trader I don't think I'd use Piston Heads no matter how tempting it was, simply because it becomes a mine field for those with a commercial interest in targeting the amateur enthusiasts that post here.
Saying that if I was a TVR trader and did use Piston Heads, I certainly wouldn't fall into the trap of making aggressive comments directed at the very type of person this forum is designed to serve.
A lot of people get annoyed with the PH naming and shaming rules, but I totally accept and understand why these rules are put in place. The N&S rules protect traders from malicious, unjustified and false attacks... and to make that work they need to deploy a blanket ban on all negative comments because investigating every case would prove totally impractical.
If I had fallen foul of the N&S rules with my post or comments I'm sure they would have been quickly removed by the moderators, but I can also see why one trader might want to jump to the defense of a fellow trader they work hand in glove with if they feel there's been an attack.
I don't want to get into a spat here, I'm not promoting anyone either, although I can see why people mistakenly think I am. All I'm doing is letting fellow enthusiasts know about a development at one of the TVR specialists.
The only other thing I've done is given my personal opinion of portable rolling roads, and as far as I'm aware I'm entitled to that opinion. Portable rolling road rigs may well be fantastically accurate for all I know... because all I've ever seen is them used for cock waving BHP shootouts and witnesses the rather interesting ARF figures that often accompany the printouts. But I do struggle to see how lumping any carefully calibrated piece of measuring equipment in & out of a van can be good for maintaining accurate calibration?
I also work in a competitive market place, but I always do my level best to remain professional because it will only ever end up reflecting badly on me if I don't.
This is a place for amateurs to meet and discuss their hobby so lets keep it friendly please, and to the very few traders that still post on these pages...lets try to keep it professional.
TBH I take it all with a very large pinch of salt because its always been my experience that although people can sometimes come across grumpy and rude on the forum.... they also nearly always turn out to be the nicest person you'd ever want to meet when you shake hands in the real world.
Best regards to all my good TVR friends in the real world and I really hope the news I've posted here is of interest?...
Dave.

You're not going LPG are you Daz??
Surely not
What would your Emerald installer say?
Don't risk it mate, it's the Devil's fuel

I would like 350hp and 40mpg but I don`t even have time to use it at the moment .Surely not

So sell,it and buy a efficient car ?.. It's. Tvr , it's not built for economy !! ffs
Never did understand this point of view, where does it say making a TVR more economical will spoil it
My TVR is still pure TVR, it still drives like a TVR, sounds like a TVR and although it's just a 4.0 litre she still picks up her skirts and gets up the road like a TVR.
It just does all that while delivering the cost equivalent of 45-50 mpg, best of all rather than driving like an old taxi it actually drives massively better on LPG than it did when it was on the 14CUX/distributor & burning petrol.
Better, better, better... whats not to like

There's nothing wrong with someone wanting to improve the fuel economy of their TVR, the important bit is to do it in a way that has zero impact on performance, drivability and its unique TVR character.
If it's done properly I don't think massively reducing the cost of running my TVR is anything to be ashamed of... or makes me any less TVR macho for that matter

I guess I just subscribe to a different way of thinking....

first of all you should ask yourself why you visit the dyno with the car ?
if the reason is just to have a number all of them will do the job.
personally i do need a dyno for project cars and before and after comparisons
on the same dyno and would assume this can also be done on most. if you have
special requirements like awd high horses etc. different story. as it seem
the boys are doing a lot of ecu conversions so make sense to save some time and effort
and to do it by themselve.
if you are into comparisons e.g. take the modded speedsix figures....
quite senseless until all cars on the same dyno.....
