Can 4 piece dash be made to fit in a R53 (3 piece dash) and is the dash top interchangeable ?

In theory yes from 3 to 5 piece and vice versa, but the airbag becomes a problem. Same for the dash top - it's the same size, but the passenger airbag moved from pre to post-facelift
