Amazon Fire TV 4k - as a game console

Thinking about getting one mainly as a TV streamer (I have ethernet so would like to use it) but also like the idea of having it as a game console. So does anyone use it as a game console? How does it compare to Nvidia Shield and Chinese alternatives?

You can't expect to play anything more than basic game apps, you are not likely to see Fallout 4 or Star Wars Battlefront on them. They are both pretty similar in that respect. Nvidia has an extra trick of streaming high end games for an extra cost but I doubt that will remain exclusive.
I have normal fire TV and it works well as a streaming box.
If you want a gaming machine I'd get a proper console and use the streaming features on that. A more expensive route but it depends what is most important to you.
You need amazon prime to get the best out of the fire TV.
