What cycle computer / HRM?

So it seems my polar cs200 is giving up the ghost, at least the chest heart strap has died on me twice now in as many years. Therefore i'm considering getting a new cycle computer with features like hrm etc. However, i'd like some guidance around what direction to go in. There seems to be two directions, the mobile & then the specific cycle based stuff like the garmins.. There's quite a number of apps for mobile phones, strava being the most common and had wondered how these apps tied in with any sensors you might have on the bike plus the heart strap or would I be better off getting a cycling specific computer / gamin device that i can upload the data from to an online tool to analyse.
I've gotten on quite well with the Polar online analysis tool, but have a feeling it somewhat lacking now, Especially with the ANT+ network based equipement around (understand the sony z5 now has ant protocol/connection that might be able to somehow use with respective sensors?
The features i want are:
HRM
Altitude gained etc
Std kcal burn
Speedo
cadence
Training plans etc
Online tool for analysis.

Mrs LLA has been asking what I want for Xmas and a cycle computer is right up there, but hearing horror stories (OK, it's only ride data 
) and reading threads like Gruffy's have put me off.
Wish there was a 'go to' option that a) didn't cost the Earth, b) had the functionality of even the lowest-end £50 smartphone (decent screen, mapping etc.), and c) came with the expectation that it would be at least as reliable as a phone.
To me it almost seems like a semi-disposable rugged Android phone (<£100) and a extra battery pack (<£20, another 100g or so) for in-ride charging might be the best option, but I know that would be fraught with other problems.
