We've just ordered a Leaf, and I've been looking at what we'll need to fill it with lectric.
Home charging from the 12 hour brick charger that comes with the car will be fine overnight, as will a 30 min monster quick charge at Nissan garages or motorway services. We're only leasing it, so I'd like to keep outlay to a minimum, but in emergencies we might need to charge elsewhere - and that's where it gets difficult.
Trafford centre/Ikea/car parks seem to have varying requirements for additional leads - but for most charging occasions it looks like I need a Type 1 J1772 to Type 2 62196-2 lead in 16 amp variety - anyone got one they no longer require?

Hi, the 10 amp 'brick' charger with a 3 pin plug is included with the car, but to charge at some non-tethered 16 or 32 amp stations you have to buy an extra lead at £100+ or a daft £300 at Nissan, hence me trying to find a used lead!
We've gone through the local Nissan dealer with a 6 + 35 business lease at £170 + vat a month. Managed to get 3 years servicing and some car mats in with the deal so there is room for movement, probably because it's the older 24kw model - the latest spec cars are 30kw with a 25% bigger battery capacity/range.
Should get the Leaf next week at latest

From what I've picked up while looking, the manufacturers do hike the monthly costs on higher mileages probably because they're terrified of dead batteries after 60k. That price ain't bad though - no mot, no car tax, no repairs or likely breakages, and near enough no fuel costs - at 20k you'll probably be 'filling up' at free quick chargers most of the time. From my Leaf test drive that included a few motorway miles I was quite impressed - very stable and quiet at high speed - it'd be interesting to see what the centre of gravity is like compared to a normal car with the Leaf having the battery weight so low down.

Ah. Didn't realise that - thanks. Don't need the 6.6 for what we'll be using the car for though, and it does add a chunk onto the base price - I haven't seen anywhere near as good a lease deal on the 6.6. Just need to find a 6.6 owner who doesn't use their lead now....

I will be commuting in it 120 miles per day and have free charging and parking 5 mins from work. Had one for a 7 day test drive last December and even when weather was cold it showed 90 miles range at full charge and was very accurate. Hopefully the 30 kw model will be a realistic 120-130 miles.
I spend £250-280 per month on fuel now and that's driving a 1.6 diesel.
As you said no MOT, warranty, set costs for 3 years. Its a no brainer.

Out of the 60 miles approx. 20 miles A1, 5 miles M1, 5 miles city, 30 miles A Roads.As I said range when I test drove was fine with 20+ miles remaining at the end of my commute.
Just waiting for a quote from another dealer who is local to work.
Need to ask about leads and servicing.
First dealer I contacted was very good. Had a Leaf specialist, said the cost of the home charging point (£195) could be added to the total deal so paid over the 36 months and also would look at my present car as p/x (hate selling privately so this may be an option).

On the 30kw model with the extra capacity supposedly it'll do 150 miles+ - so 120 round trip should be easy?
Working two dealers off against each other is fun - I got the 3 years servicing thrown in. Delivery might vary a lot between groups of Nissan dealers as well - worth checking who can get what and when. Renault were talking march 2016
