Official numbers from the DVLA
Discussion
Having read the numerous threads wondering how many "S"'s were still on the road I wrote to the DVLA under the freedom of information act nad asked them how many were still registered.
They have sent me the info in the form of an excel spreadsheet listing the models and the numbers still registered from the yeaqr of first registration.
It is broken down into 280 S, 290 S & V8S. They have also sent the info for the other models.
I thought about running a sweepstake to see who comes nearest the total.
I don't know if I can post a spreadsheet here. If anyone wants a copy they can email me through my profile.
Before you do that have a guess.

bE INTERSTING... EVEN IF DUFF INFO AS IN TOTAL IT WILL BE RIGHT
Steve,I hope you make more sense than this tomorrow.
I make sence of it![]()
even if some V8S are registered as a 290 S the total combined of v8 and v6 will still be correct
I realised what he was trying to say but somehow it didn't quite come out right at 2am

Here are the numbers 291 280S, 609 290S & 41 V8S. I think the V8 numbers are a bit wrong.
My mental arithmatic makes that 941
According to SH then, that means that of the total cars built for the UK market 1,663 are either on the scrapheap or gone abroard.and where are the missing 269 V8S, mind you as pointed out previoiusly, there appears to be a cockup on registrations.
